Moisés (2015)

The parasomnias associated with REM sleep are a type of disorder that affects more than half of the world's population, at least once in a lifetime. Known as sleep paralysis, it can be a real problem in the normal development of a person, causing speech disorders, night terrors and hypnopompic hallucinations. This is the case of Moisés, a false name assigned to hide the true identity of the person that this project is about, the roommate of Gómez Selva during his first year in Bilbao, in 2015. His sleep problems resulted in the appearance of an alter ego during his nocturnal episodes. The prolonged presence of this second identity during the hypnopompic hallucinations of the subject lead to the decision to document not only these episodes, but to reconstruct the very delusions of the subject through photography.
MOISÉS is a project based on the identity and perception of this dreamlike second being, in which reality and fiction are interconnected to reveal a more complete perspective of the problem. In the book, both text and image mark the rhythm of the story as a personal diary, generating a narrative in which events occur in chronological order.
